Mother's Day

What a wonderful Mother's Day this is! First, I work my Sunday shift at my LQS and have lots of fun with my coworker and some out of town customers. We actually had more customers than either of us expected since it is Mother's Day. I had an unexpected dinner invitation from my daughter and her husband to my very favorite restaurant, Roys, Hawaiian fusion cuisine. Not sure what that is but their food is to die for including their chocolate souffle. My fun continues as I'm off to my son and DIL house in Fort Collins on Wednesday for 6 days.

As far as quilting goes I am busy working on my trip around the world play mats for the latest grand babies born to my friends. I only have furry grand babies of my own!

Mine is the one in the middle with the red stripe going down the center. My blocks are all literally scraps but they will all have a red strip in the middle for continuity. I love the pink, red and aqua one in the top picture. That one belongs to Zany Quilter. It is so organized and sweet. Check our her blocks. There is another one I love in monochromatic lime. Maybe my next one will be somewhat organized, some how! I will let you know the minute I am organized in anything.

Until then sew happy.

Wonky Zig Zag

I accomplished so much this weekend I want to share a completed project. Complete for me means a quilt top is finished. I will show it again when it is quilted. No pattern, I don't know what it is called, but I like it and it was fun.

Wonky Zig Zag baby quilt Feb 2013

It's pretty crazy. It was made from my stash except the yellow that came from a friend.

Owls are in, maybe just for me! I love these itty, bitty ones. Using my stash is a goal of mine for 2013. One of my friends that blogs is keeping track of what comes in and what goes out of her stash for the 2013 year. What comes in would be easy, it's the how much goes out of your stash that would be hard for me to keep track of. I use just bits in some of my projects. I will be interested in her end of the year results.

Zany Quilters gift to me! Feb 2013

Don't you just love it? She made it just for me out of my selvages! What more could a friend ask for? I'm supposed to use this place mat, but no way. I will find a place on my wall for this. To check out more butterfly mats Zany Quilter has made go here

Off to Colorado to see my son and DIL tomorrow. It may snow while I am there. Yippie! I can only hope.

Sew happy, it's good therapy!

Finally Finished

I was going to wait until I got a picture of the baby girl twins on their quilts but I will post it when I get it. I have been busy working Shop Hop. Great fun. I have never talked so much in two days, ever! Thanks again to Zany Quilter for quilting these. Check out the close up photos here.

Monica's Quilt Nov. 2012

Nicole"s Quilt Nov. 2012
Snapped these photos just as the wind was picking up. Mom wanted orange and yellow for the babies and the Timeless Treasures Pink Lemonade strips were perfect. For someone who has pattern issues this came together without a hitch. For me, that's saying something!

Back and binding Pink Lemonade Nov. 2012

I love the backs and binding.

On my list right now are two more baby quilts, my daughters wedding quilt which we will be working on together. I am really looking forward to that. Wait till you see the pattern. My sisters quilt she designed, MQG challenge quilt and the Christmas exchange for MQG. The toaster quilt that is half finished, The Kaffe fabric one that is half finished and a class that I am taking on Friday, the fabric has to be cut and ready. These are the only the ones I can remember! Oh and my handwork hexies in 1" and 3/8".

Modern Quilt Guild Meeting

What a fun meeting. I am finally able to post about what I have been sewing on. We had a pillow exchange for the holiday season. Everyone picked out a fat quarter and gave it to the person that picked their name. Any special instructions were noted on the paper like colors, size etc. Zany Quilter is who I drew and we enjoy each others work so she was easy for me. Here is the pillow I made for her based on one of the fabrics in the pillow.

MQG Pillow Exchange 2011 for Zany Quilter

She wanted one of those 'long' ones so after redesigning numerous times I came up with this. It was fun to make and I am pleased with how it turned out. I put a zipper in it so it can be taken on and off for washing.

Zany Quilter pillow detail

I was a little concerned about the quilting because after about 6 inches it seemed a bit stiff. By the time I quilted the whole pillow it wasn't and I was relieved. I am so insecure about quilting my projects. I am afraid I will ruin my quilt with the quilting if I decide I don't like it.

Tomorrow I will post about the wonderful pillow I received. I want daylight to take photos because it is very detailed and deserves close ups.

May the new year be filled with lots of fabric therapy and fun projects.
