No Sew Post

I returned from my visit to Colorado with an extra large smile due to the good company, great food, watching the snow fall and getting to see another wild elk up close and personal.

Estes Park  Feb. 2013

Driving up through the park is always fun and to get a treat seeing the wildlife is such a bonus.

Son and DIL Feb 2013
If you look really close you can see 35 (I counted them) elk in the meadow eating their fill for the day. I get so excited seeing very large animals that belong in the forest out and about.

I'm ready for Tuesday with the Girls. Stay tuned...

Wonky Zig Zag

I accomplished so much this weekend I want to share a completed project. Complete for me means a quilt top is finished. I will show it again when it is quilted. No pattern, I don't know what it is called, but I like it and it was fun.

Wonky Zig Zag baby quilt Feb 2013

It's pretty crazy. It was made from my stash except the yellow that came from a friend.

Wonky Zig Zag baby detail Feb 2013

Owls are in, maybe just for me! I love these itty, bitty ones. Using my stash is a goal of mine for 2013. One of my friends that blogs is keeping track of what comes in and what goes out of her stash for the 2013 year. What comes in would be easy, it's the how much goes out of your stash that would be hard for me to keep track of. I use just bits in some of my projects. I will be interested in her end of the year results.

Zany Quilters gift to me! Feb 2013

Don't you just love it? She made it just for me out of my selvages! What more could a friend ask for? I'm supposed to use this place mat, but no way. I will find a place on my wall for this. To check out more butterfly mats Zany Quilter has made go here

Off to Colorado to see my son and DIL tomorrow. It may snow while I am there. Yippie! I can only hope.

Sew happy, it's good therapy!

Bitty Boxy Bags

I was supposed to be getting some fabric cut and I strayed off into bitty boxy bags!

Feb. 2013
Another photo in the bushes. They are so little I didn't see the little twig on the right until I opened it here. I don't mind the twig. They are tiny and fun. Just perfect for lipstick.

Sparky's girlfriend. Feb 2013

Here is my cat Sparky's only cat friend since our old cat died. She and her mom come by multiple times daily to visit Sparky. They play by the window since Sparky is an indoor cat. He doesn't like the way I talk to her and sometimes refuses to go to the window and say hi and play. She is afraid of me so I can only see her from afar. She and Mom cat have the most beautiful blue eyes. She is very cross-eyed and I'm not sure how well she sees. She's a cutie though.

Have a wonderful Valentines Day.

Pincushions

Making pincushions is not an easy job. I used polyester batting that I was donated to the guild for dog beds. I kept a layer since the dog bed lady had no place to store the volume of batting I was giving her. I think I was trying to stuff them too tight and some were not quite the right shape after the stuffing step!

What do you think of the name Fatty Cat Design? That will be the name of my Etsy store when I get the stock together, the photos, the banner and the info that goes with each item. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Happy quilting.

Pick Up Sticks

Friday with the girls was a very productive day. I worked until dinner on a selvage project and after we ate I put together 100 out of 334 (maybe 400 if I can last!) squares of my pick up sticks project. After the squares I have a ton of half square triangles to do for a cool border. I am using Vintage Modern fabrics by Bonnie and Camille. HERE is the same quilt in different colors.

I am also working on some projects for my Etsy store. I will let you know when it opens. Until then...

Be happy and quilt often.

New Year for LVMQG

Kicking off the first meeting of the new year for the Las Vegas Modern Quilt Guild was a success. Lots of friendly new faces, good food and numerous show and tells.

Love the Minky monsters!

The Madrona Road challenge fabric was given to those who wanted to participate. Rules for this challenge are very simple. It can be anything as long as it is quilted and finished. The reveal date is the March 28 meeting.

Lots going on this year in the LVMQG so join the fun. Check us out here.

Going sewing!
